Allied Universal is hiring a Workers Compensation Representative. The Workers Compensation Representative is responsible for managing, reviewing, and processing workers compensation claims for the North America business of Allied Universal. The Workers Compensation Representative will work with branch office administrators, injured employees, and third-party administrators to resolve any and all workers compensation claims.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, review, and promptly process workers compensation claims (multi-state), collecting relevant facts surrounding the claim, assisting with making the initial determination of claim type (reportable or first aid), and ensuring all documentation and investigations are completed and submitted
  • Maintain proactive communication with injured employees through local contacts throughout the life of the claim; maintain positive communication with employees to return to work and reduce likelihood of litigation
  • Develop and provide workers compensation training programs to support current and ongoing initiatives, as well as maintain claim service instructions for third-party administrator
  • Manage the return-to-work program by providing direction to branch offices, working with medical providers, and employees regarding work restrictions and documentation
  • Ensure accommodations are made for employees in accordance with company guidelines to proactively return injured employees to work as quickly as medically possible; provide written analysis and recommendations for workers compensation reserves and settlements
  • Maintain regular contact with insurance carrier/claims adjusters/third-party administrator on claim status, proactively driving responses and reviewing reports with supervisor; make recommendations on claims handling and seek direction from supervisor on open issues
  • Communicate workers compensation leaves with the Leave of Absence department as well as coordinate workers compensation settlements with employment department
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual summary reports from insurance carrier/broker/ third-party administrator for distribution and assist in the preparation of reports and presentations on an as needed basis
  • Manage the processing of workers compensation subpoenas and provide direction on subrogation with carriers/third-party administrators

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a human resources, workers compensation, or other related field of administration experience
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed as well as work collaboratively with colleagues and leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines and meet objectives
  • High level of customer service skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization as well as outside with various vendors and providers
  • Highly organized, with ability to process a very high volume of information in an effective manner, including ensuring that information and its impact on the organization is absorbed and understood
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; good comfort level with integrating multiple applications to streamline operations through technology solutions
  • Able to use technology effectively to create meaningful reports and measurements
  • Professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • Associates degree in legal studies, human resources, or related field of study
  • Legal, workers compensation, human resources certifications

BENEFITS:

  • Pay: \$50,000 - \$60,000 per year
  • Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance
  • Enrollment in our companys 401(k)plan, subject to eligibility requirements
  • Eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days
  • Vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law.
