CH2M HILL BWXT West Valley, LLC (CHBWV) is the prime contractor selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Phase 1 Facility Disposition Project at the West Valley Demonstration Project. The site is a scenic 30-minute drive south of Buffalo, New York. In cooperation with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, CHBWV continues to decontaminate and decommission facilities at this site.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician V is responsible for planning and performing incoming and outgoing inspections, surveillances, and tests including non-destructive examinations (NDE) in support of time sensitive work. Supporting operations and maintenance in the inspection of incoming waste containers and outgoing waste shipments, quality hold points, ventilation testing, hoisting, and rigging, etc. The QA Technician will also perform and participate in QA related self-assessments, surveillances, and assessments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. Education/Experience: Associate degree in quality, engineering, welding, or related field Minimum of ten (10) years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Nuclear Facility Experience, Department of Energy site preferred. B. Licenses/Certifications: Non-Destructive Examination Level II Certification (MT, PT, VT). C. Other Requirements: Knowledge of DOE directives, NQA-1, AWS, ASME, and QA/QC methods and standards Knowledge of hoisting and rigging hardware, including manufacturing and inspection requirements preferred. DOT training such as IATA, Hazardous Material, Hazardous Material Transportation, and Radioactive Material preferred. Suspect/Counterfeit Items (DOE O 414.1D, Quality Assurance) Personal Protective Clothing Respirator Qualified D. Preferred Qualifications: Experienced with oversight Test and Inspection qualified for mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, instructions/controls, receipt inspection processes. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE OF WORK: 1. Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; including following all safety rules, use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations. 2. Adhere to standards contained in the Company Code of Conduct, Company EEO practices, and DOE directives. 3. Support incoming and outgoing waste shipments with container inspections, documentation reviews, and ensure DOT regulations and waste shipment requirements are satisfied. 4. Support maintenance tasks with testing, intermodal stand inspections, and hydrostatic and pneumatic testing. 5. Performs quality assurance surveillances and assessments. 6. Documents acceptability of products and methods by reading and interpreting codes and standards. 7. Maintains files, records, and documentation and verifies data to ensure accuracy. 8. Complies information or data in response to requests by management or CHBWV employees. 9. Prepares department reports and statistics by assembling and compiling data. 10. Performs mathematical calculations, verifies accuracy of data, creates and ensures timely delivery of existing and custom reports.
