U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command Maintenance Mechanic in Tooele Army Depot, Utah

About the Position: This position is located at the Tooele Army Depot, Directorate of Base Operations, Facilities Support Division. Responsibilities Installing, modifying, troubleshooting and repairing new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as steam heating; steam generation; flash and expansion tanks; condensate, vacuum, and circulation pumps; and radiators. Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and gas distribution systems, hydrants, water mains, water closets, and air compression equipment. Troubleshooting components and disassembling, repairing, and reassembling complete devices and subassemblies of various electrical systems. Installing, modifying, repairing, troubleshooting, testing and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls and equipment. Constructing, altering, repairing, or modifying components and structures such as framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior and exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Experience performing: (1) Electrical - Install or repair electrical outlets or switches. Test circuits using equipment such as test lamps, voltage testers, and polarity testers. (2) Plumbing - assemble, install, modify, and/or repair new or existing utility, supply, and/or disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. (3) Carpentry - Build, repair, alter or install wooden articles or structures such as window frames, door frames, inside walls, floors, ceilings, closets, counters, shelves, casing, wood foundations, or similar structures. Plan work from blueprints, drawings or verbal instructions. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Work on ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where systems and equipment are located. Works in hard to reach places, stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles, lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 45 pounds in the performance of assigned duties. Occasionally lifts and carries items that weigh over 45 pounds with assistance. Working Conditions: Works inside or outside; and subject to heat, cold, and inclement weather. Exposed to dirt, grease, noise, odor, smoke, and fumes. Frequently exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and electrical shock. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of this job. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
