Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff SUPERVISORY FUTURES AND CONCEPTS ANALYST in Suffolk, Virginia

Summary Futures and Concepts Division Chief performing work in support of the SecDef and CJCS through integration with all Services, U.S. Combatant Commands, Combat Service Support Agencies, Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), liaison with Defense Warfighting and National Laboratories, Think Tanks, interagency, Allied, multinational and NATO partners, private industry, and academia to enhances nation's current/future military capabilities Responsibilities As a SUPERVISORY FUTURES AND CONCEPTS ANALYST at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include: Provides advice and expert consultation by coordinating internally and externally on highly visible issues relating to the planning, coordination, and supervision of all matters pertaining to the development of joint concepts. Develops joint concepts that extend the strategic framework of the National Military strategy, National Defense Strategy, and the Chairman's Risk Assessment into the future to address the NDS critical challenges. Leads joint concept development to provide innovative operational approaches to threat specific future challenges or opportunities. Plans and executes an issue resolution conference to pull together all stakeholders to resolve the issue; responsible for communication with internal and external senior leaders to resolve issues for joint concept development, which includes info papers, briefings, and in person engagements Provides oversight, guidance, and direction in the partnership with the Defense Intelligence Agency and the broader Intelligence Community (IC) for the development and publication of the Joint Operating Environment, Joint Strategic Assessment, and Gamechangers study Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GS- 15, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service: Applies Joint, Services, and allies' and partners' warfighting concepts to provide advice and expert consultation regarding joint concept development and operational issues of major importance; Utilizes joint warfighting operations, assessment methods, evaluation philosophy and principles to support development and implementation of joint concepts; Develops, manages, and integrates and synchronizes joint force development initiatives by utilizing joint force operations, doctrine, organizations, strategy, force structure, threat forces capabilities, military history, and current and future joint force development objectives and strategies; Reviews applicable constraints and considerations in the joint force development and management process utilizing the various programs, systems, and processes surrounding the Joint Capabilities Integration Development System ( or any private sector systems used to validate defense related acquisitions regarding warfighting requirements Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
