       Position Definition: TheCompensation and Benefits Specialistis responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing employee benefits and compensation. This position will work closely with leaves and workers compensation processing. Relationship: TheCompensation and Benefits Specialistshall be directly responsible to the Director of Human Resources. Qualifications: Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with Compensation, Health Insurance, Long-Term Disability, Dental Insurance, and Life Insurance, preferred.

    Skills/Knowledge:

  • Demonstrates a proficient understanding and utilization of Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages for use in the Human Resources Department.

  • Demonstrates advanced computer skills, including Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders.

  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain complete confidentiality.

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated by patience, understanding, and congeniality.

    Authority: TheHuman Resources Benefit Specialistwill have the authority to perform all functions listed below in accordance with established policies and procedures. Functions/Duties/Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty/responsibility at acceptable standards. In accordance with both state and/or federal law, reasonable accommodations will be considered upon employee request. Essential:

  • Liaison between insurance carriers.

  • Accurately completes monthly health, dental, life, FSA, COBRA, Employee Assistance Program, long-term disability, and other insurance billing.

  • Accurately enrolls and terminates, on a monthly basis, health, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance.

  • Maintains current knowledge and trends of ACA, health, dental, LTD, Life plans, Flex 125 plans, Flex Spending Accounts, federal Family Medical Leave (FMLA), and Workers Compensation.

  • Accurately maintains and processes Act 93, tuition, license, tuition reimbursement, and vision reimbursement submissions.

  • Accurately and timely invoices retirees and part-time staff members who purchase insurance.

  • Develops and coordinates wellness programs/fairs at the CLIU #21.

  • Ensures all benefit communications are updated and accurate annually.

  • Coordinates and prepares split dollar life, long-term disability, and life insurance applications.

  • Coordinates all aspects of COBRA Notification.

  • Coordinates and prepares all communications regarding annual open enrollment for annual open enrollment for health and dental insurance and Flex Spending Accounts.

  • Prepares and carries out employee orientation for assigned areas.

  • Coordinates Employee Assistance Program and annually reviews value of the program.

  • Acts as a liaison with all insurance carriers, COBRA administrator, and Flex 125 Administrator.

  • Prepares benefit reports for Human Resources Director, as requested.

  • Communicates effectively with Human Resources-Payroll to ensure employee contributions and flexible spending accounts are properly handled.

  • ACA tracking and reporting 1094, 1095, W-2, and Pre-tax reporting.

  • Reports benefit information for quarterly PCG reporting.

  • Provides reports and analysis for employee negotiations.

  • Prepares the teacher salary schedule for Director review.

  • Prepares Salary Offers, including salary chart for guidance.

  • Reviews budgeted salary objects to ensure accuracy throughout the year.

  • Participates in Board agenda preparation.

  • Provides employee annual notifications, as required.

  • Performs internal payroll audits.

  • Satisfactorily performs/carries out all functions/responsibilities/tasks, as assigned by Director or by Human Resources guidelines and/or procedures.

    Secondary:

  • Answers phones for Human Resources Department.

  • Creates communications for staff to provide required notice and updates on benefits, leaves/absence, and license renewal.

  • Coordinates and completes all aspects of Workers Compensation claim processing, as well as tracks and analyses claim status and trends.

  • Acts as liaison between the CLIU #21 and workers compensation administrators.

  • Maintains and enhances website for benefits and workers compensation.

  • Monthly tracking and reporting of leaves to each department and closely manages high profile personal and/or workers compensation leaves of absence.
