University of Rochester Physician Support Rep III in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Performs complex secretarial and administrative duties in a fast paced Outpatient Neurology Clinic and Infusion center, with minimal direction and considerable latitude for independent judgement, in support of the Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology and Neurology Infusion Medication Access Specialist team. Responsibilities include routine and non­routine duties requiring complex decision making and advanced clerical skills, as well as outstanding proficiency in an Outpatient Infusion Center. Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for scheduling multiple complex appointments across different departments within the hospital system including evaluation and management visits, neuropsychologic testing and infusions. This duty entails working closely with the Neurology clinicians, Infusion Center nurses, scheduler and Medication Access Specialists to ensure all appointments are entered appropriately and accurately. Responsible updating any scheduling changes as they may occur. Coordination of cross-departmental appointments that may be required to initiate and/or continue on therapy.

  • Answering incoming patient calls to schedule appointments and answer any non-clinical/ medical patient questions or triage to the appropriate clinician or staff member. Make outgoing phone calls to schedule subsequent appointments and infusions, remind patients of upcoming appointments for physician visits, neuropsychologic testings/visits and infusions with thorough review of the pre-infusion checklist. Conduct phone interview with patients, collecting additional information to determine priority of appointment and review health insurance information to ensure that we have correct information.

  • Assisting patients with insurance review/ verification, navigating price estimation, obtaining prior authorizations and identifying resources to assist with patient financial responsibility, as needed. Demonstrates understanding of complexities of payer restrictions and internal process of benefit verifaction, authorization, out-of-pocket cost and patient responsibility.

  • Working with external health systems, infusion centers and home infusion agencies to coordinate appropriate appointments when needed. Will reach out to external centers to identify appropriate infusion site and necessary information required for us to send for patients that live out of our region and are eligible for treatment at an outside center.

  • Provides assistance to Infusion Center charge nurse, and all treatment center nurses as assigned. Exercise and maintain knowledge of all policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Provide administrative support to and coordination from all aspects of patient care for follow up and referral patients.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and 2 years of relevant experience

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Medical Terminology, experiences with surgical/appointment scheduling (such as Flowcast), and electronic medical record preferred.

  • Demonstrated customer relations skills required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $18.89 - $25.51 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
