Eaton Corporation Quality Technician in Redditch, United Kingdom

What you’ll do:

Performs continuous quality improvement activities within manufacturing cell. This involves measurements, reviews, generation of documentation and product data, liaison with customers, suppliers and internal departments etc., to ensure product and process quality is to standard.

Participates in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities within the appropriate manufacturing cell.

Participates in Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other quality improvement tool activities to ensure product and processes are compliant to the required standards and in control.

Participates in maintaining documentation relating to product and process quality.

Participates in the root cause analysis of customer returns, including participating on 8D teams to drive continuous improvements.

Assists in defining and maintaining inspection criteria, particularly new product and or processes, ensuring that control plans are implemented correctly to comply with the product requests.

Raises Defect Material Reports (DMR) and Non Conformance Reports (NCR) as appropriate, and actively participates in and supports the analysis and solution of quality problems. Applies corrective and preventive actions to non-conformance products as required.

Provides Quality support to the manufacturing cell.

Perform the product, process audits as well as the quality initiatives (Layered Process Audits, Successive Inspection, CARE station etc.)

Provides support to any initial and final product inspection as required.

Ensures the verification and calibration status of the quality tools.

Able to interface with company systems such as but not limited to MFGPRO, WISPER and Enovia

Participate in 3rd part audits such as CAA, ISO and FAA.

Participate in customer/supplier audits and visits.

Participate in meetings with customers over quality issues both on-site and off-site

Able to interface with company systems such as but not limited to MFGPRO, WISPER and Enovia

Qualifications:

Experience

a. 1 – 3 Years of experience in a manufacturing role.

b. Minimum 3 year’s experience in inspection type activity

c. ONC or equivalent in mechanical engineering discipline.

d. Good communication skills

Skills:

Analytical/Statistical Tools & Methods – Good understanding and application of a range of problem solving tools and methods including statistics, combined with the ability to select and apply them to make data based decisions to sustain higher levels of process or product quality.

External Requirements - The competency knowledge, practice and application of the Product/Process and Quality System standards of the International Certification Bodies, Industry specific Regulatory Authorities and Customers contractually specified Quality Requirements.

Inspection & Testing - The ability to use proven tools, techniques, and methodologies to inspect products, measure process performance, perform product verification and validation testing, and to provide feedback reporting as required. This competency is utilised within the framework of the measurement, analysis and improvement aspects of the quality management system.

The knowledge to effectively analyse, assess and mitigate the risks associated with any potential failures.

Language

a. E.g. Fluent and Writing English.

Specialised Tools or Skills

a. Use of micrometers, verniers, calipers, bore gauges, pin gauges, height gauges, fixtures, inspection equipment and pc’s etc.

b. Basic CMM use where programme written or very simple measurements.

c. Computer skills, very competent in use of Micro soft office, word and excel

d. Understanding of problem solving methods (Six sigma, 8D, Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
