Chewy Category/Sourcing Manager in Plantation, Florida

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is currently recruiting a Category/Sourcing Manager reporting to the Associate Director, Procurement at our headquarters in Plantation, Florida or Minneapolis, MN. Chewy is one of the fastest-growing e-commerce enterprises around and is rapidly disrupting the traditional pet specialty channels. As a Category/Sourcing Manager, you will lead an indirect procurement sub-category and be responsible for managing all sourcing, contracting, supplier management and other procurement activities within the sub-category (HR, Legal, Finance as examples). This leadership role is instrumental in managing spend for the organization and developing partnerships with internal/external resources. This is an opportunity to demonstrate stewardship in optimizing Chewy’s spend and its supplier relationships.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop strategies for the sub-category and manage the pipeline of projects (new and renewals).

  • Lead sourcing activities within the category and responsible for the end-to-end procurement strategies of medium – large sized deals (100K-$1M) with varying complexity.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (cross-functional) and advise on procurement practices, providing expertise, support and guidance at all stages of the procurement cycle.

  • Lead negotiations within your respective sub-category.

  • Manage suppliers and monitor contract performance.

  • Review specifications, analyze market, and select potential suppliers, lead the RFx process, analyze prices/quality expectations/delivery dates/terms, negotiate prices and terms, and award suppliers.

  • Analyze spend and other data while also conducting regular market benchmarking.

  • Responsible for developing content for monthly procurement business reviews with internal stakeholders.

  • Foster and develop relationships with multiple departments, business partners and vendors/suppliers.

  • Build and analyze pricing models based on stakeholders’ requirements in collaboration with Finance.

  • Transform multiple and complex streams of information into simple, clear and concise terms to be presented to stakeholders.

  • Domestic travel as needed.

What You'll Need:

  • 2-5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, category, and procurement. Global experience a plus.

  • Demonstrate ability to create a category and negotiation strategy.

  • Ability to work with cross functional teams in a global, complex, changing environment to deliver value-driven results.

  • Strong negotiation and contracting experience.

  • Prefer experience in negotiating technology agreements

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills to be able to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications.

  • Intermediate to Advanced level Excel proficiency.

  • Experience running competitive request for proposals (RFPs).

  • BA or BS required; MBA preferred. Procurement Certifications are a plus.
