The global Resources sector is evolving and growing at speed. Driven by energy transition focus, decarbonisation targets and population growth, the Resources sector continues to accelerate capital investments in discovering and developing new assets, whilst optimising existing operations. From assessments through to closure, Jacobs is well placed to support them on that journey.

As the Senior Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for working as part of our Resources Hub team to provide Controls services to the clients in the Resources and New Energy sector. Specifically, they will be responsible for planning, design, implementation, testing and commissioning of industrial automation systems and their associated programmes for industrial plant.

The role will also include design management that will focus on projects within the instrumentation, control, and SCADA discipline, but there will be a requirement to effectively interfaces with electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, environmental and process engineering disciplines as well. It will also entail the preparation of cost estimates and drawing lists for projects.

The Senior Controls Engineer will devote their efforts to directing the success of projects through achievement of project objectives and KPI’s and be responsible for the management and coordination of studies, engineering, design, fabrication, FAT testing, installation, commissioning, quality, health and safety, finance and administration, and cost and schedule activities of the projects as well as the development of personnel on designated areas of the projects. #LI-AP1

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Relevant Tertiary Engineering Degree (Professional Registration CPEng highly regarded).

  • Robust knowledge of Electrical and Controls design standards.

  • Experience and demonstrated track record of successfully delivering within various aspects of controls and SCADA projects including the planning, design and commissioning processes, construction methods and interface requirements of multi-disciplinary studies and projects for resources and/or new energy key clients.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the preparation of project lifecycle documents (including marketing and sales documents, proposals, concept designs, detailed designs and operations and maintenance documents) for major, resources, ITS and ICT projects.

  • Possesses the ability to supervise and undertake designs for Electrical Control, Industrial Communications and SCADA systems projects.

  • A strategic and innovative mindset coupled with the ability to solve complex problems, using strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others.
