This position is Hybrid with the flexibility to work from home and our Oakville, ON Head Office (2-3 days in office per week).

The Strategic Procurement Manager (SPM) position is to be a part of the Electrical Products Business in Canada, to manage all aspects of the supply base within the assigned categories. This includes the development and implementation of a procurement strategy for the area of responsibilities. Supporting the plant procurement activities to optimize supply cost, meet supplier reliability targets and maintain/develop a supply base to minimize production downtime and product risks. A successful SPM will develop relationships with internal stakeholders and become a valued partner in the sourcing process.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Commodity Managers and Local Procurement Managers in developing and implementing location procurement strategies.

  • Drive plant cost reduction activities (PPC and MCP) together with Commodity Managers and Local Procurement Managers (quote analysis, RFQ generation, supplier component review, etc.).

  • Ensure the use of, and adherence to the Global Procurement policies and procedures.

  • Initiate and participate in sourcing team decisions/activities for location specific parts.

  • Assists in the negotiation of Logistic Agreements, Quality Agreements, Inventory Sourcing Agreements and Master Supply Agreements.

  • Support Plant Management Team in supplier escalations, costing opportunities and short/long term strategies.

  • Support the Commodity Managers and Local Procurement Managers in the introduction and qualification of new suppliers, and benchmarking of existing supplier base.

  • Participate in the PLM process and integrate supplier and supply market expertise prior to decisions on product portfolio.

  • Ensure ESN accuracy and system data clean up.

  • 10% travel to North American Operational sites and Supplier’s Facilities in mainly in Canada.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Supply Chain

  • At least 8 years strong experience working in some aspect of Supplier Management, preferably in the factory/production environment.

  • Demonstrated procurement skills in the areas of Supplier Management, Contract Negotiations, Supply Chain Processes, Sourcing, Product Lifecycle Management.

  • Strong written and verbal Communication skills including extensive expertise in presentation development and delivery. Comfortable working with higher levels of management within an organization.

  • Demonstrates and applies advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for area managed and expert knowledge of other areas in the company and how they interact.

  • Team player with understanding of functional management approaches and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree in Mechanical/ electrical/ industrial engineering

  • International business

  • Experience with Financial budgeting/forecasting, Product Management

  • Commercial Procurement expertise

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Experience in Siemens business systems
