Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Senior Materials Planner in North Kingstown, Rhode Island

Summary Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking a Senior Materials Planner for our North Kingstown, RI location. The Senior Materials Planner oversees inventories and ensures material resources are consistent with production schedules.Determines material specifications, creates and maintains inventory schedules, coordinates with internal departments, and manages external stakeholder relationships.Performs a wide variety of tasks supporting the planning and production of finished or semi-finished goods while coordinating inventory and shop floor control activities. Job Responsibilities * Oversees MRP data, shop floor work orders, and outside suppliers to support the manufacturing plan * Manages schedules, expedites and de-expedites orders keeping relevant individuals and departments advised with respect to delays and lead-times on critical materials or products * Manages releases, maintains, and completes shop floor work order ensuring all materials are issued properly to minimize variances * Teams with department managers to evaluate new processes, materials and continuous improvement projects * Works with department heads to identify bottlenecks and adjust schedules accordingly, i.e., off load excess to outside vendor * Manages shortages to MPS or shop floor orders, advises internal team, and communicates with suppliers concerning critical components * Assigned Shop Floor representative in production, shortage, and shipments meetings * Works closely with COS, Shop Floor, Planner/Buyers and Suppliers to ensure parts are delivered in a timely manner to support customer or inter-company parts requirements * Works with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and suppliers to resolve quality issues * Member of the Material Review Board (MRB) and initiates shop floor and supplier corrective actions where appropriate including close monitoring to ensure all ARs are closed in timely manner * Oversees cost reduction initiatives in accordance with departmental and organizational goals * Manages the coordination and implementation of the ECN process with Engineering, Shop Floor and Suppliers through completion * Oversees clean work practices in daily working routines is being completed * Understands and applies Supply Chain Management concepts * Assists with updating process and procedure documents as requested * Supports products and/or processes that are complex and/or critical in nature * Works on complex business matters approaching challenges innovatively * Maintains thorough knowledge of company's products and understanding of structure * Remains current with industry trends and best practices * Point person assigned to complete large-scale comprehensive project related tasks * Mentors less experienced Materials Planners' developing their skill/knowledge through advice, coaching, and training opportunities * Remains current with skills by attending training classes, independent research, and seminars as needed * Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, inventory management or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience 3 - 5 years of related work experience, i.e., materials management, shop floor control, inventory control, procurement or supply chain management APICS continuous education desirable CPIM certification desirable Experience in operational and manufacturing process desirable Creative, analytical, self-motivated, and driven Proficient in MS Office Suite Knowledg
