Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Business Development Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology, and digital payments and possess strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills. As a Business Development Associate, you will play a key role in driving the growth and expansion of our products in both existing and new markets.

The successful candidate will be required to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Identify and prospect potential clients and strategic partners to expand our customer base and market reach.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and target industries.

  • Ensure customer and merchant profitability and retention by identifying and pursuing broader opportunities that serve their overall payments in and out needs

  • Collaborate with the marketing teams to develop and execute effective strategies to meet sales targets and revenue goals.

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and new business opportunities.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations to clients, showcasing the value proposition of our products.

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.

  • Track and report on sales performance, pipeline activity, and market trends using CRM and other tools.

  • Stay updated on industry developments, technological advancements, and competitor activities to inform business strategies and product enhancements.

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness and foster partnerships.

    Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business/ Operations/Marketing or a related field 

  • At least 5 years of proven work experience in a Business Development, or Commercial or B2B Sales, or similar role.

  • Innate ability to understand payment technology and have a technical sales mindset

  • Previous experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in the Fintech and/or payment sector.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strategic thinker, with  sharp executions coupled with relentless ambition and energy

  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail 

  • Ability to complete a high volume of tasks and projects with little or no guidance.

  • Ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround.

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of sales processes

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
