HDT (Huron Inc.) Quality Supervisor in Lexington, Michigan

Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for working with customers, management, and UAW employees to assist manufacturing in providing the highest quality, least cost products for our customers by directing the quality workforce and assuring compliance with established quality procedures. The routine customer quality contact.

About the Role

In this role the quality supervisor will be part of multifunctional teams to improve processes, usually leading these teams. The routine customer quality contact. Responsible for managing customer and internal quality rejections. Responsible for scheduling union-quality staffing. Assists in the management of floor quality issues.

Essential functions in the role include:

  • Directing the activities of quality inspectors
  • Perform product/dock audits
  • Investigate customer concerns and participate as a team member to develop and implement corrective/preventative action
  • Responsible for writing 8D corrective actions
  • Conduct proactive customer visits to various facilities
  • Maintain strong cross-functional communication to resolve quality issues
  • Train employees effectively following additions/updates to processes
  • Ensure proper documentation is updated as part of the 8D process
  • Manage 3rd party companies for quality services

Leadership and Management Competencies

  • Able to lead and manage quality technicians
  • Able to work effectively on their own (self-starter)
  • Able to create, and /or communicate corrective action reports
  • Able to manage time-dependent documentation

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 1+ years of relevant work experience or 2+ years of equivalent work experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Technical Qualifications

  • 8D experience
  • Working knowledge of AIAG 5 Core Tools (MSA, SPC, APQP, FMEA, PPAP)
  • Experience in inspection layout, supervising small groups, gage use, and calibration
  • Working knowledge of IATF16949:2016
