(3) Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC), Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Programs

Vanguard Center for High Performance Computing

(VCHPC), located at the Maui Research and Technology Park (MRTP) in Maui, Hawaii. This position will conduct research under the University of Hawaii Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) Task Orders. Telework (from employees residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:

$12,000 - $16,500/Mon.

DUTIES:

Provides senior level systems programming and management functions for a large scale, high performance computing (HPC) complex at the VCHPC. Installs, integrates, and manages HPC configurations, as well as other UNIX based systems and peripherals. Independently accomplishes complex system integration projects, advanced system performance analyses, problem resolution, and system security initiatives. Develops system management strategies, architectural assessments, system tools, and other software for the administration of production systems. Provides technical oversight and consultation for VCHPC staff and users in the use of the HPC facilities. Works closely with other VCHPC departmental entities to provide a comprehensive support infrastructure for a wide range of DoD and other Government customers.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in a related technical, scientific, or engineering discipline.

EXPERIENCE

Five to seven (5-7) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of HPC systems, UNIX workstation and server implementations, computer graphics hardware and software, and scalable, parallel architectures. Knowledge of industry trends and evolving technology.

ABILITIES and SKILLS

[Must be a U.S. Citizen, a requirement of the Government security investigation to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Ability to independently oversee and direct a team of technology professionals working in a dynamic HPC environment. Ability to build servers. Ability to contribute to the development of technical design decisions involving software or hardware implementation strategies.
