Farmingdale State College Compliance Investigator in Farmingdale, New York

Farmingdale State College seeks applications for a Compliance Investigator. This position is responsible for investigating discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct allegations filed with the Risk and Compliance Office. The investigator works with units across the College to respond to, investigate, remediate, and educate regarding Affirmative Action, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, and Section 504.

  • Assists with FSC's Title IX efforts, including assisting with the development, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate policies, procedures, and practices designed to comply with federal and state legislation, regulations, and case law.

  • Investigates discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct allegations involving faculty, staff, and students. Investigations include but are not limited to: Analyzing complaints to identify allegations and relevant witnesses; Interviewing parties and witnesses; Gathering relevant documentation and evidence; Drafting detailed investigative reports that summarize evidence gathered, analyze evidence gathered and apply evidence to relevant regulation and policy.

  • Maintains collaborative relationships with academic and administrative units, human resources personnel, legal counsel, and external entities to ensure effective and timely efforts to address issues of civil rights compliance.

  • Acts as a liaison and resource for Campus Counsel when they respond to external agencies, including providing requested data.

  • Ensures a prompt, fair, and equitable investigation process for all parties and witnesses.

  • Upholds the established rights of the parties.

  • Exhibits the highest standards of integrity and respect for parties, witnesses, and stakeholders.

  • Ensures investigative files are well-documented throughout the investigative process. Maintains accurate and thorough records and notes documenting events within the investigatory process.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of training programs for faculty and staff.

  • Collaborates with the senior college staff to identify and address systemic issues and concerns.

  • Maintain a case management database to organize, manage, and track reported concerns.

  • Maintains knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to higher education, labor and employment, Affirmative Action, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, the Clery Act, Sections 504, and ADA.

  • Maintain high-level of professional acumen through on-going training and professional development.

  • Implement best practices as they relate to investigations.

  • May be called on to conduct other workplace investigations as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Three years of relevant experience conducting investigations in areas such as civil rights, labor & employment, law enforcement, or sexual misconduct.

  • Experience drafting investigative reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience conducting civil rights investigations (Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA).

  • Knowledge in the field of civil rights laws and regulations.

  • Experience developing and implementing educational training programs.

    Additional Information:

This is a full-time M/C position.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

  • SALARY: $85,000/year. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
