Job Description
As an Operations Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific you will be part of a passionate and hardworking team working with our ground-breaking Transmission Electron Microscopes!
Your task is to design, maintain, and optimize production processes. You will contribute to the four main production engineer drivers: decrease cycle time, decrease cost, increase efficiency and increase quality.
You will be leading exciting projects in a sophisticated and fast-changing environment, providing technical support to the factory and solving complex problems to achieve operations excellence in processes, product quality. The primary focus of this role is to support the introduction of new products and technology into the factory and field along with the continuous improvement of products and processes. You will work with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Service and Procurement so you should enjoy building relationships, working collaboratively and inspiring change and improvement.
How will you make an impact?
Providing 2nd line technical support to the factory, to ensure the shipping of high-quality systems to its customers
Supporting factory and field service engineers with first builds, installs and upgrades of newly introduced systems and modules to ensure accurate working order
Solving sophisticated problems and ensuring system specifications are met
Participating in or leading NPI projects according to Product Management Process (PMP) and multi-functional Operations improvement projects
Creating and maintaining work instructions and defining way of working and data collection as part of the manufacturing process flow
Performing hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting and training of personnel
Supporting the supply chain with engineering expertise including DfM / DfR analysis and supplier support on technical & quality issues
Keeping technical product documentation (TPD) up to date by means of processing engineering change request (ECR) to improve quality, manufacturability and cost
How you will get here:
Minium Bachelor degree in a technical field such as Engineering or Physics is required
Minimum two years’ experience in high-tech industry with complex system assembly and testing processes in cleanroom environment
Demonstrable experience in the field of Engineering. Preferably specializing in acoustic enclosures and packaging. Knowledge/experience with electron microscopy is huge plus
In terms of packaging, the Operations Engineer possess practical knowledge to advise on packaging solutions and apply packaging standards / guidelines
Be able to obtain “certificate of no objection” (Verklaring van Geen Bezwaar), required to access restricted warehouse area for packaging of modules and end products
Experience in using technical production engineering and quality control methodologies such as SPC, P-FMEA, process flow, Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt
Experience in managing engineering projects, or supporting NPI projects
Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in solving issues: analyzing problems, finding root-cause and come to effective solutions
Personal Skills
Able to read and interpret complex TPD, such as parts drawings and quality standards
Ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel and proactively manage tasks to completion
Creativity in creating solutions for design, process and quality challenges.
Having a strong analytical attitude in coping with details that need structure
Excellent English language skills (verbal and in writing), Dutch is a huge plus
Good social and communication skills to work in teams or to train others
Have a pragmatic, proactive approach and build functional relationships
Display a practical hands-on approach
Be a collaborative team-player

This is a full-time position (40 hours). Working part-time is an option in case you’re available for at least 32 hours.
