Citigroup Officer, Futures Middle Office Operation Associate in Chiyoda, Japan

The Securities & Derivatives Analyst 2 is an intermediate level position responsible for processing orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations.

Business Overview / Position Objective:

Citi Global Markets Japan (CGMJ) is seeking a candidate to join its Markets Middle Office organization who will perform middle office functions in Prime Finance, Securities Lending team.

The team performs client services as well as trade support functions on Japanese securities borrowing and lending traded by front office.

We are looking for a candidate who has experiences in financial industries and a mindset of being a team player who can communicate well with colleagues, stakeholders and external clients.

This person will be responsible for middle office functions of securities lending and liaises with the Front Office, IT, Finance, Back Office to ensure trades are processed correctly in downstream and settled with external clients. The person will closely work with not only Japan stakeholders but also global colleagues.

The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in various internal projects including the implementation and support of automation/ business initiatives and systems in accordance with their level of experience and development.

In this role, you’re expected to:

  • Exposure management: Agree and process FOP/ DVP collateral amounts with external counterparties and intercompany

  • Tri-party managements: Monitor exposure at Tri-party and book non-cash collateral

  • Send trade confirmation and monitor JASDEC DVP pre-matching

  • Billing: Agree monthly billing amounts with external counterparty and settle

  • Trade reconciliations: reconcile stock/cash breaks in multiple systems and work on resolution

  • Fail covers: Closely communicate with settlement team, HK middle office and front office on fail cover names. Agree and process T+0 payments

  • Understand market rules and regulations and comply with them. Ensure to implement robust control in daily functions based on the rules and regulations.

  • Work effectively with teams, colleagues outside of Japan, the business and other support functions to provide a high standard of support to business & their clients.

  • Continuously look for process improvement and efficiencies

  • Handling queries from clients and other departments, including front office and other ad-hoc inquires

  • Get involved in system enhancements and projects as a subject matter expert

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • Working experiences in financial industries is strongly preferred. Securities Lending knowledge preferred

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Fluent in both English and Japanese languages

  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks in fast-paced environment and under time pressure

  • Pay attention to detail and can accurately perform regular tasks

  • Team player and excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships both internally and externally to collaborate effectively.

  • Proactively take on resolving issues queries addressed to the team. Ask questions when it is not clear. Willing to get involved in new initiatives.
