Unilever Electronic Technician-Rexdale in Rexdale, Ontario

Background & Purpose of the Job

Works under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible for trouble-shooting, overall maintenance and repair of process and production systems.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

Be an experienced Electronics Technician.

Have solid computer & typing skills and be able to use Microsoft Windows Products.

Be a highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently as well as in group settings.

Be well organized and able to multi-task .

Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Have experience using test electronic test equipment .

Be experienced and able to use hand tools, small power tools and pneumatic tools

Be able to read and understand technical drawings, P&ID’s, datasheets, and written work instructions.

This is a responsible support position that directly interfaces with and proactively supports our Production Facility

Customizes systems and makes adjustments or repairs according to written specifications

Maintains and writes work procedures and all related documentation for each task performed

Works closely with engineering & Equipment suppliers to modify systems according to custom requirements.

Knack to detect electronic malfunctions and restore the same immediately.

Ability to effectively use electronic repair tools and testers

Ability to effectively manage time and complete all tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Ensure all work is managed in such a way as to adhere to the HACCP and GMP policies/processes of a Food Manufacturing facility

Maintain close communication with other employees (Packaging Technicians, Operators, Mechanics, Stationary Engineers, etc.).

Complete all required documentation including fully updating the CMMS.

Ensure that all machines safety guards are in place and operational.

Ensure compliance to all plant safety rules.

Participate in all TPM training and apply this knowledge to the daily job duties and responsibilities.

Update all related KPI information and graphs as required.

Responsible for complying with existing company SHEQ Standards and requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Environmental Protection Act, The Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Technical Standards and Services Act.

Other on-going activities include leading 5s activities and helping push forward the overall TPM agenda. Working on focused improvements and being an active member of a cell team responsible for the overall safety, quality, waste and efficiency of a set of lines.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

High School Diploma. Technical Diploma in Industrial Electricity

2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting

Strong sense of teamwork

Knowledge of WHIMS

HACCP trained(Preferred)

Computer literate

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents relating to the job, function or assignment

Ability to perform basic mathematical equations
